it’s the year of me trying to keep up
(with the farmers and the seeds)

It’s full blown spring in Italy. My drive to the grocery store today (to buy chocolate) is finally lush and green again. I never expected such long winters here.

The wisteria has already fallen and bright red poppies pushing through the cracks of old stone walls have taken its place.

The sun blasts late into the day. It’s 1630 and the hills are busy with men wearing worn light blue coveralls, hoeing rows in family gardens while their wives watch with crossed arms and a long marriage worth of love in their eyes.
